William Bruggman, age 84 of Newell, died Friday, June 28, 2019 at his home.
The funeral service will be held 10 am Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Pastor Tom Martin will officiate. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place in Black Hills National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard.
William Henry Bruggman was born November 12, 1934 in Staples, Minnesota. He was the son of Wilbert and Martha (Peterson) Bruggman. Bill grew up in Minnesota and he attended school in Brainerd at the Lincoln Elementary School. At the age of 17, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the end of the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan and he worked in aircraft maintainence. After his service he attended a college in St. Louis where he was trained in becoming an aircraft machinist. Following his schooling, he moved to Chicago and four years later he transferred to Minneapolis, where he worked for Northwest Airline for many years. In 2001, Bill retired to Newell. He loved the Black Hills and he enjoyed being a pilot and flying. He was a humble and kind man.
Bill is survived by his nephews, Charles (Margaret) Sims of Rapid City, Donald Sims of Rapid City; nieces, Carol Sims of Brainerd, MN, Susan (Mark) Kavanaugh of Brainerd MN, Sheryl Hemkin of Columbus OH; great niece and nephew, Jennifer Hoven and Craig Sims, both of Minneapolis MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Michael Sims.
