Vicki Lee Fox was born January 3, 1952 in Belle Fourche. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Eunice (Dake) Fox. Vicki grew up in Harding County and graduated from the Harding County High School in 1970. On July 11, 1970 she was united in marriage to Mark Heairet at the Grand River Lutheran Church in Buffalo. To this union three children were born: Jessaca, Tim, and Reed. Together Mark and Vicki ranched in Harding County for 50 years, before retiring to Belle Fourche in 2017. Vicki loved the ranching life that included wide open spaces, livestock and animals, and taking care of her family. She was an organized and highly detailed person and when she took the time, very talented with making crafts. Her family always came first to her and most things revolved around them. Sending baked goods to them by mail was one of them. “Nanna Cookie” was a fun nickname for her as the grandkids loved her baking.
Vicki will be remembered for the love and care and how she provided for her family in so many ways. She never missed a birthday, was always filled with grace and forgiveness, as it seemed nobody could ever do wrong. In 2013 she was faced with a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer and given a short time to live. But Vicki fought hard and won that battle and later was cured and cancer free. In April of this year, she was diagnosed with a different kind of cancer, and this type was very aggressive in nature. Vicki’s grace and love never wavered, no matter how much the pain was. She had great strength and she made her family so proud. She will be missed so much by all of them, and her friends as well.
Vicki is survived by her husband Mark of Belle Fourche; daughter, Jessaca (Tony) Denke of Chadron NE; sons, Tim (Tara) of Spearfish, Reed (Jenn) of White Oak TX; grandchildren, Jade, Brooke, Alivia, Grace, Hayden, Hope, Haizlee, Haddox, Paige, Kolby, Quinn, Aspen; brother, Russell (Kathy) Fox of Buffalo; sister, Sherry Fox of Pine Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Shelby Rae; and sister, Deby Bail.
