Renada M. Wendland, age 76 of Belle Fourche, died Saturday, November 16, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving family when she was called home to heaven.
A Celebration of Life service will take place 10am, Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche, with Pastor Paul Howard officiating.
Visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Sunday, December 1st, at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Inurnment will be held in Pine Slope Cemetery.
Renada Marie Diedtrich was born February 28, 1943 in Selby, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Jacob and Alma (Allmendinger) Diedtrich. Renada grew up on a family farm and graduated from the Selby High School in 1961. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. Renada was united in marriage to Dane Wendland on December 17, 1961 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Selby. To this union two daughters were born: Valynn and Renee. Following their marriage, they lived in Mayville ND, Hot Springs SD, and in 1966 they settled in Belle Fourche. Throughout her life in Belle Fourche, Renada worked at Pete’s Clothing, and later was the “Hot Lunch Lady” at the Belle Fourche High School. She also worked at State Farm and Farm Bureau Insurance Companies. She was known at “Grandma Nada” at the Black Hills Christian Academy where she worked in the kitchen. From 2000 to 2003, her and Dane owned and operated The Penguin Drive Inn in Belle Fourche. They also owned Adventureland Video. Dane passed away in 2008. For the past 1 and a half years, Renada has enjoyed living at the Belle Estate.
Renada was a member of the Christian Life Center and the Women of the Moose. She was a special lady with a warm smile and a loving and generous heart. She was happiest when she was in the kitchen. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Renada is survived by her daughters, Valynn (Douglas) Mednansky of Belle Fourche, Renee (Phil) Melkun of Colorado Springs; 5 grandchildren, Aaron (Callie), Eric, and Michael (Rachel) Mednansky, Allison and Nathaniel Shoemaker; 3 greatgrandchildren, Grace, Abigail, and James; brother, Gene (Joyce) Diedtrich of Newcastle; sisters, Della (Bob) Flocchini of Aberdeen, Donna Bland of Rapid City; and sister-in-law, Jean Diedtrich of Custer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Alma Diedtrich; Husband, Dane; brother, Gary; and nephew, Jacob Diedtrich.
