Michael Floyd, age 74 of Belle Fourche, died Saturday, December 30, 2023 at his home following a cardiac event.
No services will be held. Arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
Michael Kim Floyd was born October 31, 1949 in Darby, PA. He was the son of John C. and Margaret L. (Kim) Floyd. Michael grew up in Pennsylvania and worked as a Prothonotary Officer for the City of Philadelphia. Michael was also a talented musical artist as an American Blues guitar player and singer, performing as Jesse Graves. He started playing music in the 1960’s, immersing himself in the East Coast folk music scene. Michael played his own music as well as covering his favorite artists, Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. He played with and opened for several notable artists including Muddy Waters, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Waits, The J. Geils Band, and more. In 1972 he recorded his debut album on his own label, Gazebo Records. This album was re-mastered and re-released in 2018. For the past several years he has resided in Belle Fourche.
Michael is survived by his brothers, John of West Chester PA, Mark of Drexel Hill PA, and Peter of Raleigh NC.
