Mary Jean Heinbaugh was born September 18, 1947 in Gillette, Wyoming.  She was the daughter of Pat and Gertrude (Schneider) Heinbaugh.  At a young age, Mary moved with her family to Belle Fourche where she graduated from high school.  Mary received a teaching degree from Black Hills State University.  She worked as a medical transcriptionist in Sturgis and for 21 years she served the City of Belle Fourche and Butte County as a 911 Dispatcher and Supervisor.  She retired in 2002.

On February 14, 1972 Mary was united in marriage to Francis McKenna in Sturgis.  To this union two sons were born: Patrick and Brett.  Following their marriage, they settled in Belle Fourche.  For years the family enjoyed camping together.  Many memories were made at Iron Creek Lake and the Fish ‘n’ Fry Campground.  Mary was quite gifted when it came to crafts.  She enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting, and more.  She also enjoyed baking.  The trips to Arizona were always enjoyable.  And Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her sons, Patrick (Kristie) of Belle Fourche, Brett (Tawny) of Watford City ND; 5 grandchildren, Taylor Erin Mette, Taylor Kay McKenna, Morgan McKenna, Reese McKenna, Carter McKenna; great grandchild, Asher Lee Mette; and 2 brothers, Tom (Lois) Heinbaugh and Clark (Shara) Heinbaugh.
