Marilyn E. Torgrude, age 85 of Belle Fourche, died Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Garden Hills Assisted Living Center in Spearfish.
A celebration of her life will take place 10 am Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. Inurnment will take place in Black Hills National Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
Marilyn Elaine Thacker was born June 8, 1933 in Rapid City. She was the daughter of Fred and Mary (Dibble) Thacker. Marilyn grew up in the Rapid City and Deadwood areas, and later moved with her family to Spokane Washington where she graduated from high school. On August 7, 1987 she was united in marriage to Conley Torgrude in Lead, South Dakota. In 1996 they moved to Belle Fourche, where they have lived since.
Marilyn worked as a waitress in her younger years, and for more than 20 years she worked at Thorpe’s Gold and Jewelry in Deadwood. Marilyn was very artistic and made many crafts, which she shared with family and friends. She enjoyed fishing and camping and riding motorcycle with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling with her children and visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Marilyn died at the age of 85 on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Garden Hills Assisted Living Center in Spearfish. She is survived by her husband, Conley of Belle Fourche; son, Rick (Sherry) Charter of Lead; daughters, Cheryl Weber of Belle Fourche, Lora (Norm) Burleson of Rockford; 4 step-daughters, Debbie (Kim) Smoot of Belle Fourche, Connie (John) Schmitt of Grand Junction CO, Tammie (David) Paulson of Clark SD, Pam (David) Carlson of Chicago IL; 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; and brother, John (Darleen) Thacker of St. Onge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chet Allen Charter; and grandson, Donald Burleson.
