Louise Rohlf

Louise Rohlf was surrounded by loving members of her family as she entered into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 13, 2024 in Wakonda, SD, just 3 days before her 90th birthday. She had received loving care at Wakonda Heritage Manor since December 2022.

A Celebration of Louise’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26 at First Baptist Church in Belle Fourche. A private burial will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery on Friday, October 25. There will be no visitation.

Louise Elizabeth Taylor was born, in a log house Northeast of Wood, South Dakota on October 16, 1934, the first-born child of Floyd C. Taylor and Lillian Elizabeth Reinoehl Taylor. She attended elementary school in a one-room school house, and graduated from Winner High School in 1952 as a straight A student and valedictorian of the class.

Louise was united in marriage to William Tuttle on December 14, 1953 at Rosebud Valley Baptist Church. To this union were born three children, Ellen, Lester, and Beverly. On October 16, 1964 Louise was united in marriage to Milton Rohlf in Belle Fourche and the family moved to Belle Fourche. Two more children, Larry Kevin and Lori Michele, were added to the family.

Thirty years as “The Tupperware Lady” gave Louise many opportunities to make lasting friendships and receive unique opportunities – she valued both the friendships and the opportunities.

For over 60 years she was a member of First Baptist Church in Belle Fourche. Her many years of involvement with Bible School, Sunday School, Good News Club and other Wednesday night activities were utmost on her prayer list, and brought friendship and love from the lives of so many children and their families in this town.

Family has been Louise's most precious possession - and spending eternity in heaven with them all was her greatest desire, as she prayed daily for each of her loved ones to accept Jesus’s gift of salvation.

Surviving Louise are her children Ellen (Al) Margheim, Lester (Garnet) Tuttle, Larry (Cheryl) Rohlf, and Lori (Eric) Maguire, and one step-son Mark Thompson. Also surviving her are 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Freeman (Connie) Taylor, her brother-in-law Dale Devish, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Milt, her daughter Beverly Tuttle, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, her parents, her sister Lois Devish, 2 sisters-in-law, her step-son Bill Rohlf and step-daughter Gail Stoddard, her grandparents, and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial gifts may be directed to the children’s ministry at First Baptist Church in Belle Fourche, SD; or to the Christian Worship Hour in Aberdeen, SD.
