Ila M. Paradis, of Belle Fourche, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, (the first day of Spring), at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center. Ila died at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 17 days. Services will be held 10:30 am Friday, April 20th, 2018 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis. There will be no visitation. Memorials of your choice are preferred. Following the service everyone is invited to The Knuckle in Sturgis for lunch and a time of fellowship. Funeral arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Ila Nelson was born September 3, 1926 in Jasper, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Clarence and Ragna Nelson, the youngest of 12. Ila grew up on the family farm in Jasper and was a graduate of the Jasper High School. On November 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Bernard "Bud" Paradis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To this union was born 3 children: Steve, Kevin, and Ann. Following their marriage, Ila and Bud lived in Minnesota, Rapid City, Sturgis, Aberdeen, and in 1971 they settled in Belle Fourche, where they owned and operated the Belle Fourche Building Center. In 1991 they retired. Together, Bud and Ila were blessed with 62 years of marriage, before Bud's death in March of 2008. Ila will be remembered for her Norwegian heritage, and her love of family and church. She was adored by her family for her sweet and loving ways. We will miss her dearly, but we promise that lefsa, kringles, ginger cream cookies and Ufdah even lutefisk will continue to be a family tradition! Thanks to you Mom! Ila is survived by her 3 children: Steve ( Bobbie) Paradis of Rapid City, Kevin Paradis of Belle Fourche, Ann (Pat) Roberts of Deadwood; 6 grandchildren: Dan Paradis of Sioux Falls, Amy (Greg) Prevost of Denver CO, David (Su) Paradis of Denver CO, Mike (Wendy) Roberts of Spearfish, Chris (Abbie) Roberts of Spearfish, Scott (Tamira) Roberts of Whitewood, Abby (Beau) Riopel of Spearfish; and blessed with 12 great grandchildren. She also had numerous nieces and nephews whom were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; and 11 siblings.
