Gussie Ribordy, age 103 of Belle Fourche, died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Spearfish Canyon Healthcare Center.
The funeral service will be held 1pm Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Pine Slope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Research.
Gussie Amelia Shrader was born April 16, 1916 at the family homestead near Chalk Butte, South Dakota. She was the daughter of William and Florence (Rhoden) Shrader. She attended grade school at Chalk Butte. She also attended Sturgis High School, and she was a 1937 graduate of the School of Agriculture in Brookings.
She moved with her parents to Oakley, Kansas in the 1930’s, where they owned and operated a grocery store. It was there that Gussie met, and later married Louis Ribordy on April 16, 1939. In 1946 the couple moved back to the family homestead. They owned and operated the ranch in Meade County until 1978. In 1980 the retired and moved into Belle Fourche.
Gussie was a member of the Stoneville Steadies Extension Club, Farmers Union, Sturgis and Belle Fourche Senior Citizens, RSVP, and the Union Center and Belle Fourche First Baptist Churches.
Gussie is survived by her children Sharee (Marvin) Kindsfater of Belle Fourche, son William (and Fiancé) Bonnie Hespe) of Belle Fourche; 4 grandchildren, Rick (Laura) Kindsfater, Rhonda (Don) Dreiske, Renee (Colin) Thompson, Ronald (Sonia) Ribordy; 6 great grandchildren, Justin (LeAnn) Barnes, Jason Barnes, Callie (Aaron) Wagner, Courtney Huber, Troy Thompson, Reese Ribordy; 5 great great grandchildren, Sydney, Teigan, and Jade Barnes, Adalyn McLaughlin and Ryker Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis in 1986; daughter-in-law, Joy Ribordy; great grandson, Ryan Ribordy; brother, Henry Shrader; and sister, Vivian Reed.
