Glenn H. Allcott, age 87 of Detroit Texas, formerly Belle Fourche, died Saturday, August 24, 2019 at his home in Detroit Texas, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Services will be held 10 am Monday, September 2, 2019 at Pine Slope Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard. Following, lunch and a time of fellowship will take place at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills.
The family requests no flowers or donations be sent; instead please support the fight to end the truly horrible disease that is Alzheimer’s.
Glenn Hollis Allcott was born in Chamberlin South Dakota November 22, 1931. He attended school and graduated from high school in Belle Fourche in 1949. After serving in the US Army as an Artillery Sergeant in the occupation of Germany, he attended South Dakota State College ultimately receiving his Master of Science degree in 1959. After his graduate studies he joined the federal government US Geological Survey where he worked as an exploration geochemist. He last served in the Mineral Resources Division as a federal Senior Executive Service Officer. Retired in 1993 he moved to Seguin, Texas to be close to family and dedicated his time to many different pursuits and hobbies, he loved to travel, tinker and build things. His kind presence and solid principled advice endeared him to all that knew him. A strong man to the end, he had a big heart, and will be sorely missed.
Truly a blessed man he was fortunate to have loved and been loved by two wonderful women in his life. These women, his wife of 34 years who precedes him in death, the former Shirley Kay (Brammer) Allcott and is survived by his wife of 26 years Virginia Mae (Sherlock) Allcott. Beloved Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Glenn leaves seven children, sixteen Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.
