Gladys McGarvin

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Gladys McGarvin (Kadrmas) who left us on June 15, 2024 at the age of 89 in Spearfish, South Dakota while surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. 

She was a woman of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with her friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, gardening, and cooking for loved ones. She was always playfully teasing everyone with that innocent grin on her face and soft voice. Having her hair done and lipstick on was a must for her. She was a lady of class and beauty, always looking sharp and put together. Always seen smiling and such a people pleaser; she was loved by all who met her at all stages of her life.

Gladys Agnes Kadrmas was born to Isadora and Emma Kadrmas on May 14, 1935 in Dickinson, North Dakota. She grew up on the family farm in New Hradec, North Dakota with her brothers.

She married Clerc Weller and had three children, Don, Marcie and Lana. Later, she married Paul Nunn and adopted his son, Jamey Nunn. Even after Paul was no longer in the picture, she remained Jamey’s Mom. She raised her four children on her own in Livingston, Montana. Working full time while going to night school all so she could further her education and get a better job to provide for her children. She was an amazing mother and sacrificed so much to make sure her children had everything they needed. While living in Billings, Montana she met and married Lyle McGarvin and they later moved to Ten Sleep, Wyoming before finally settling in Spearfish, South Dakota together. 

Gladys’ love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people and evoke that same spirit of love in each person she knew. She was beautiful inside and out. She will be forever missed and always in our hearts. 

Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Isadore, her mother, Emma, her brothers, Leonard and Don Kadrmas, her daughter Marcie Landers, grandson Josh Landers and Sassie the Chihuahua. She is survived by her husband Lyle McGarvin, her daughter Lana Trasmondi, her sons, Don Weller and Jamey Nunn. Her beloved grandchildren, Marco Trasmondi, Gina Trasmondi, Rick Weller, Kyle Weller, Craig Weller, Stacy Danielson (Weller) and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family members she absolutely adored
