George Leach

George Leach, age 85 of Belle Fourche, died Monday, September 2, 2024 at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital following a tragic automobile accident.

The funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at the Belle Fourche Community Rec Center. Visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Tuesday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will take place at Pine Slope Cemetery.

George Fredric Leach was born August 31, 1939 in Gordon, Nebraska. He was the son of Joe and Avis (Krouse) Leach. George grew up on the family farm near Gordon. He attended a one room country school there, and rode horse to school. George was a “Nebraska Sandhills Farm Boy”, and spent his entire life in the farm/ag industry. On October 17, 1960, he was married to Lois McCoy and together they operated a dairy farm in Todd County Nebraska for many years. Later they moved to Fruitdale South Dakota where George had a Grade A dairy herd, beginning in 1972. George began working for Ranchers Farmers Coop in the early 1980’s. Lois died in 1998. George was united in marriage to Linda Aarestad on September 13, 1999. Together they were blessed with 25 years of marriage. George also worked for Cenex Harvest States, Finkbeiner Feed and Seed, and recently CBH Co-op in Belle Fourche. George loved working there, and even though he was 85 years old, he never retired because of all the great people he worked with. George enjoyed all the many farmers and ranchers, his co-workers, and many friends. George loved his family very much, and was a very special grandpa and great grandpa. He will be greatly missed.

George is survived by his loving wife, Linda of Belle Fourche; daughter, Kimberly (Lyle) Kinner of Elkton SD; son, Todd Leach of Gilbert AZ; 6 grandchildren, Amber (Danny) Alahakoon, April (Chris) Kinner-Splett, Kyle (Jezra) Kinner, Hope (Daniel) Klein, Collette (Ali) Sen, Rocky Leach; 10 great grandchildren, Dulanki, Ravith, Binaali, Roland, Maurice, Avra, Keni, Alayna, Pennak, and Archer. He is also survived by his sister, Peg (Rich) Loomis of Albuquerque New Mexico; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and brother, Sidney Leach.
