Donald Kurtti Jr.

On February 19th 2025, Donald Elmer Kurtti Jr, was welcomed by former loved ones after a gripping battle with pancreatic cancer. Don began life on this world February 24th 1961. From the beginning he proved himself the stable protector, being the eldest of 4. He not only proved himself with family but he excelled academically earning him a successful career in the US Navy, and was a nuclear operator at a nuclear power plant in Nebraska. For over 20 years he was a firefighter and EMT, putting the wellbeing and care of others above himself. Don had a beautiful 37 years and 364 days with the love of his life, Taunia. They raised two successful, compassionate children, and now have two granddaughters. Don retired to his beloved Black Hills and spent his summer days driving through the canyons on his motorcycle exploring and enjoying all the hills had to offer. Don was known in the community for his willingness to help anyone in need, a genuine compassionate soul who touched all he met. 

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Taunia of Belle Fourche; son, Paul Urho Kurtti of Rapid City; daughter, Nicole Elaine Kurtti of Belle Fourche; granddaughters, Loxley Pearl Kurtti and Margo Fey Rempfer; father, Donald Kurtti Sr. of San Antonio TX; and siblings, Mark Kurtti of San Antonio TX, Nadine Kurtti of Sequine TX, Stacia Fitzsimon of San Antonio TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Kurtti.
