Dale Boe

June 1, 1946 — August 13, 2018

Dale Edmund Boe died peacefully in his home on August 13th in Belle Fourche, SD at the age of 72. Dale was born on June 1st, 1946 in Belle Fourche, SD to Rudolph and Opal Boe. He graduated from Kenai High School, in Kenai Alaska in 1964. He married Sandra Enloe in 1966. Dale lived an adventurous life until the day he died. Growing up he traveled around living with brothers throughout the country learning the trades. As a young man he set out for Alaska and worked on a US geological survey crew. He also worked on and off on fishing crews and joined the Alaska National Guard. He met Sandra in Spearfish while attending Black Hills State University. He spent many years as a building contractor in eastern Wyoming and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Twenty-five years ago, Dale left the work force to volunteer his time and building skills in various ministries and orphanages around the world. This took him to Brazil, Thailand, Mexico, India, Ireland, South Africa, Nepal, Chile, and various locations in the US. For example, The Chile project known as Casa Montaña built facilities to house orphaned boys and teach them a trade. In Nepal he helped build and support a primary healthcare school, a daycare, a literacy center in addition to teaching beekeeping. In Brazil he helped set up a home, workshop, and school for homeless boys. In Mexico he and Sandra partnered with a group to refurbish wheelchairs for people who had never experience mobility because of disabilities. In Thailand they built an education facility. In South Africa he partnered with an organization to build a kitchen for AIDS patients. His biggest passion was to see underprivileged youth have hope for a better life through tangible skills in the trades. He made friends and family wherever he and Sandra went, and the family is still in touch with many of these people today. Every day of his life Dale commented on how grateful and blessed he was to have led such a full life and to be surrounded by a loving family and friends. Dale is survived by his wife Sandra Boe, children Erik Boe of Spearfish, SD, Daleen Boe of Indianapolis, IN, and Stacy Boe Miller of Moscow ID; eight grandchildren; siblings George Boe of Kearney, NE, Norm Boe of Rifle, CO, Eleanor Ingalls of Faith, SD, and Jean Lewton of Tensleep, WY. Dale is preceded in death by his parents Rudolf and Opal Boe, brothers Bob, Ivan, Bryce, Kenny, and Art Boe.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Friday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.  A celebration of Dale’s life is scheduled for 2:00PM, Saturday August 18th at the Belle Fourche United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow.
