Ann Louise Groenhoff was born July 29, 1948 in Huron, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Ray and Bela (Waldner) Groenhoff. Ann graduated from Alpena High School. She was united in marriage to Gary Lien on October 28, 1967. Following their marriage they lived in Watertown for a short time. They moved to Belle Fourche in 1968 and from 1981 – 1990 they lived in Deadwood. In 1990, Ann and Gary moved to a ranch located a few miles north of Belle Fourche, where they lived for more than 20 years before retiring and moving into town.
Ann volunteered at the Tri-State Museum in Belle Fourche. She loved her children and grandchildren so much. They brought great joy and pride to Ann. For 54 years, she was married to Gary. Together they experienced many great memories.
Ann died peacefully in her sleep at her home with her husband by her side, on Saturday, January 1, 2022. She will be greatly missed by her family. No service will be held.
Ann is survived by her husband, Gary of Belle Fourche; Daughters, Shanna Lien of Manhatten Beach California, Heather (Ross) Kraft of Timber Lake SD; son, Heath Lien of Belle Fourche; 3 grandchildren, Tristan, Mason, Anna; and her sister, Nancy Groenhoff of Palm Beach, California.
Arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
