Elaine D. Wingenbach, age 73 of Spearfish, died Monday November 1, 2010 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Saturday November 6th, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish. There will be no visitation. A Vigil Service will be held 7pm Friday evening at the church. Inurnment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, in Lead. Arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Northern Hills. Elaine D. Ruffatto was born November 18, 1936 in Deadwood, SD. She was the daughter of James and Elsie (Faye) Ruffatto. Elaine grew up in Lead where she graduated from high school in 1954. In 1959, Elaine was married to Emil Wingenbach in Lead, SD. Following their marriage, they lived in Lead where Elaine worked as a Key Punch Operator at the Homestake Mine. For the past 30 years, Elaine has worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for the Lead/Deadwood Hospital and recently the Spearfish Regional Hospital. In 1987 Elaine and Emil moved into Spearfish where they have lived since. Elaine will be remembered for her hard work and how much she loved her transcription work. She also enjoyed cooking and knitting. Elaine and Emil enjoyed 51 years of marriage and together they enjoyed several bus tours, seeing much of the country together. Elaine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Emil of Spearfish; son, Jim (Lori) of Billings MT; daughters, Janet (Paul) Barnard of Rapid City, Julie Dodge of Merrill WI; 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Aaron, Jared, Halsey and Parker; and 2 great grandsons, Carter and Cooper. She is also survived by her brother, Barney (Leona) Ruffatto of Lead; and her half-sister, Kathy (John) Sweere of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Joseph in 1981.
