Our Heavenly Father reunited Felix Carbajal Jr with his beloved wife Donna of 37 years on October 9, 2010. Felix passed away at the Northern Colorado Western States Burn Unit from complications sustained in an accident that occurred September 25th. He fought a hard fight. Felix Carbajal Jr. was born April 19, 1944 in Camp Wood, TX to Felix and Trinida (Gardunia) Carbajal Sr. Felix grew up in Belle Fourche SD and graduated from Belle Fourche High School. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Army; He was a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne brigade. He received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained while serving in the Vietnam War. For many years he worked next to his father in a family sheep shearing business. Felix was a jack of all trades for several years before he began his career in law enforcement with the Homestake Mine, Lead/Deadwood SD, Fort Meade VA Hospital in Sturgis SD and the Sheridan VA Hospital. In August 1972 he was united in marriage to LaDonna Jean Carbajal in Rapid City SD. They lived in Belle Fourche, SD for 26 years, then moved to Sheridan WY for 6 years before returning to Belle for 2 years at which time they built a home together in Sundance WY. Felix was a great, great man. A man his kids are so proud to call Father. He was a man who was always there to help those in need and those that needed a little encouragement. He was a man that was strong with the Lord and his faith. He contributed religiously to charities that helped children. He was a man that loved the outdoors; he loved camping, hunting, and fishing. Felix had a passion for guns, knives and coins. He was a man that loved his family dearly. His grandkids were his life. You could see him glow with joy whenever they yelled “papa”. He would spend most of his days tinkering in the garage, planting trees, and watering the 100+ trees he somehow found time to plant. Felix had a very special relationship with his father, Felix Sr. Together they enjoyed many experience, especially their annual winter trip to Texas. He also loved his brothers and sisters very much. They enjoyed many fun times together. Felix is survived by his children, Anthony (Trista) Carbajal of Rapid City, Malynda (Jeremy) Wolf of Belle Fourche, Felicia (Ryan) Cherveny of Granite Falls, Minnesota Bethany Carbajal of Rapid City, Jon (Kirsten) Carbajal of Belle Fourche and Amy Fierro (Todd) of Black Hawk; 16 grandchildren, Rhen, Bailey, John, Brennan, Austin, Haley, Hannah, Alexis, Elena, Hunter, Brayden, Avery, Aleyah, Kaylyn, Teagan and Matthew; 2 great grandchildren, Benjamin and Raquel; father, Felix Carbajal Sr, of Belle Fourche, 1 brother Ben (Kathleen) Carbajal of Rapid City; 3 sisters, Elida (Jerry) Jones of Boise ID, and Mary (Mike) Christensen of Tampa, FL; Dale Sprague of Belle Fourche; mother-in-law Betty Eixenberger of Spearfish SD. He is also survived by 5 sister-in-laws, Margaret Koch, Mary (David) Klein, Linda (Mark) Crabill, Elizabeth (Scott) Higbee, Laurie (Brad) Brunner; 3 brother-in-laws, Tom (Sandy) Eixenberger, Dr. Tim (Theresa) Eixenberger, and Lt. Col Michael Eixenberger, retired. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeremiah; mother, Trini Carbajal, step-mother Lois Carbajal and his loving wife of 38 years, LaDonna Jean Carbajal. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am Friday October 15th, 2010 at St Paul’s Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, with Father Tim Hoag officiating. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 pm Thursday at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. A Wake Service will be held 7pm Thursday at the church. Interment will be held in Pine Slope Cemetery, in Belle Fourche.
