Dannette J. (Grate) Gibson age 60 of Belle Fourche, died Wednesday June 23rd, 2010 at the Hospice House in Rapid City. Graveside services will be held 11:30am Saturday June 26th, 2010 at the Hillview Cemetery in Isabel. To follow will be a memorial service at 1pm Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Isabel, with Rev. Del Neumeister officiating. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Dannette June Grate was born June 6, 1950 in North Platte, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Clarence and Lillian (Funkhouser) Grate. When she was six months old, Danni moved to South Dakota and where she grew up on a ranch 30 miles northwest of Isabel. She attended Progress School, and Tip Top School in the country, and for three years she attended the Isabel High School. Her Senior year was spent at Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller, where she graduated. Danni worked at the nursing home in Hettinger ND and she attended cosmetology school in Council Bluffs, Iowa and later finished up her schooling in Aberdeen. Since 2001 she has lived in Belle Fourche. For the past four years she has worked at the Belle Fourche Middle School and the South Park Elementary school as a cook working in the kitchen. Danni is survived by her daughters, Catherine “Katie” (Ron) Myers of Belle Fourche, Connie Gibson of Martin, Marie Gibson of Belle Fourche; son, Bill Grate of Sturgis; 4 grandchildren; sisters, Billie Syfie of Rapid City, Dottie (Paul) Manthei of Mitchell; brothers, John (Marlene) Grate of Isabel, Lyle (Sheri) Grate of Garland TX; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Grate) Aase of Mission Hill SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian in 1963; brother, Leo Grate, in 1964; her father Clarence “Clem” in 1966; brother-in-law, Ferris Syfie in 1975; nephews, John C. Syfie in 1991, and grand nephews Rex Mittleiderin in 1976 and James Bennett in 1992.
