Gerald A. Quint age 79 of Belle Fourche, died Friday March 5, 2010 at his home in Belle Fourche. The funeral service will be held 10:30am Tuesday March 9th, 2010 at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, with Rev. Paul Howard officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Monday, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard. Gerald Albert Quint was born February 12, 1931 in Belle Fourche. He was the son of Emil and Florence (Merritt) Quint. Gerald grew up and attended school in Belle Fourche. During the Korean War he was proud to have served his country as a Marine Medic. He also served as a Navy Corpsman. Gerald attended Black Hills Teacher College and following he taught history and shop class in Wall and Glenham SD. He also was an insurance salesman for many years. For several years, Gerald worked as a black jack dealer and pit boss in Deadwood. Gerald and Myra enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Gerald was a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post 3312, and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he served as President of the Naja Clown Patrol in 1983. In the early 1960’s and ‘70’s he was the bass guitar player for the band, Jack Barnett and the Blue Diamonds. His hobbies included collecting arrowheads and artifacts, scuba diving, and he even flew a few airplanes years ago. Gerald is survived by his wife, Myra of Belle Fourche; step-sons, Rodney Evans of Belle Fourche, Roger (Pam) Evans of Rapid City; daughter, Judy of California; 3 step-granddaughters; and sister, Verla Jean Green of Mangham LA.He is also survived by his special friends, Sherrill and Sandy Stearns of Belle Fourche.
