Darlyne Cook, age 81 of Belle Fourche, died from a sudden heart attack on Friday February 12, 2010 at her home in Belle Fourche. The funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday February 17th, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. Darlyne Story was born June 3, 1928 in Springville, Utah. She was the daughter of Randle and Marion (Cameron) Story, but was raised by her aunt and uncle, Roy and Mary Story. Darlyne grew up in Moroni, Utah where she graduated from high school. On January 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Pershing J. Cook in Manti, Utah. To this union, six children were born: John, Charles, Carl, Colleen, Douglas, and Betty Jean. Following their marriage they moved to Castle Rock SD and started a sheep operation. Darlyne and P.J. spent the ensuing years building a successful sheep and cattle ranch in the area around Belle Fourche. She continued to work with her husband taking care of their stock to the day of her death. Darlyne is survived by her husband of 62 years, Pershing J. Cook of Belle Fourche; sons, John (Karen) Cook of Moorcroft WY, Charles (Gail) Cook of Poplar MT; daughters, Colleen (Kurt) Goodman of Coalville UT, Betty Jean (Lloyd) Baadsgaard of Spanish Fork UT; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Douglas and Carl Cook; and brother, Keith Story.
