Ruth A. Beals

Ruth A. Beals age 79 of Belle Fourche, died Wednesday January 27, 2010 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday February 6th, 2010 at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills. Inurnment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery, Belle Fourche. Ruth Arlene Beals was born November 16, 1930 in a farm house at the Diversion Dam where the family lived, north of Belle Fourche. She was the daughter of Albert and Alma (Lyke) Beals. Ruth attended school in Belle Fourche until the 10th grade when she moved with her parents to Bremerton, WA for one year. They then moved to Los Angeles CA where Ruth graduated from the North Hollywood High School in 1949. Following her graduation she returned to Belle Fourche where she worked at Frey’s Hardware Store and later J.C. Penney’s. In 1965 she returned to the Los Angeles CA area and worked for the Los Angeles Police Department as a secretary in the downtown Narcotics Department from November of 1965 until March of 1996. That following May, Ruth returned to Belle Fourche where she has lived since. Ruth loved the Black Hills, Bearlodge and Devil’s Tower areas and spent many hour of her retirement site-seeing there. Ruth is survived by her nephews, Eric (Maureen) Beals of Belle Fourche, Dennis, Roger, and Douglas Beals of Texas; nieces Robin (John) Wilkins of El Paso TX, Adrienne Huckins of Annapolis MD, Janine, Diane, and Sandi Beals of Los Angeles CA, Suzanne Zube of Sundance WY, Corinne (Doug) Wormdahl of Farmington NM; sisters-in-law, Louise Beals of Los Angeles CA, Betty Beals of Belle Fourche; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 4 brothers, Allen, James, Howard, and Robert Beals.
