Robert E. Rowley age 94 of Spearfish, SD, died Sunday November 8, 2009 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Fort Meade. He suffered many years however now he has joined his Lord and many loved ones in heaven. Robert Earl Rowley was born March 1, 1915 in Warren, PA. He was fortunate to have been married twice in his lifetime. Margaret (Nystrom) Rowley died October 16, 1979 and Helen Rowley went to her Lord on September 8, 2006. Bob served in both the U.S. Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy during World War II, aboard the U.S.S. Pike. After his military duty was over, he became a motorcycle officer in Tucson AZ, surviving a head on collision in 1950, in which he flew 75 feet over a car, landing on his back behind the car. He then retired to become a guard in the National Forge Steel Plant in Irvine, PA. In the 1960’s Bob moved into a log cabin with his wife, Margaret and only daughter Nancy. He then had a horse fall on him during this time. Having survived many hardships, he fought through them all and persevered. Surviving are his daughter, Nancy (Roger) Robinson of Belle Fourche; grandson, Ron (Lisa) McDanel of Fort Collins CO; granddaughter, Jennifer (Dan) Feller of Loveland CO; and 6 great-grandchildren, Marky, Maddie, and Haven McDanel, and Elizabeth, Ryan, and Brandon Feller; with one more great grandchild arriving this coming January. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Norma Mystrom of Myrtle Beach SC, and nieces and nephews. Bob lived a full rich life with many ups and downs. We were blessed to have had him here and heaven is blessed now to receive him there. Services will be held at a later date in Greeley, Colorado. Inurnment will take place at the East Lawn Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona. Arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
