Visitation will be held 4 to 6pm Thursday, at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. This will be followed by a 7pm Vigil Service at the church. Interment will take place at Pine Slope Cemetery. Felix Hernandez Carabajal was born July 23, 1920 in Barksdale, Texas. He was the son of Ben and Francisca (Hernandez) Carabajal. Felix grew up in the countryside of Barksdale. At the age of 16, he was married to Trinidad Garduna. They were united in marriage on October 17, 1936 in Uvalde, Texas. To this union, 6 children were born: Elida, Mary, Felix Jr., Dale, Ben Ralph, and another son who died in infancy. Following their marriage, Felix and Trinidad lived in Camp Wood, Texas where Felix helped his father cut down cedar trees and shear angora goats. Eventually they made their way north to Colorado and Wyoming. In the mid 1950’s, Felix purchased land located on the north side of Belle Fourche and together the family lived there for many years. Some buildings were purchased and moved onto the property and Felix would add on to the house every year for several years. Over the years, Felix sheared sheep and worked as a Crew Boss, requiring him and Trinidad to be gone from home months at a time. In 1981, Trinidad passed away at a young age. And later on, in 1987, Felix was united in marriage to Lois Wood. She passed away in 2004. Felix will be remembered for many things. He was a gentle man who cared for people, especially his family. He was a hard worker, who never really fully retired in life. He enjoyed traveling to Texas and he was wise, witty, and smart. His faith in God was the center of his life. He was the patriarch of the family and was dearly loved. Felix brought respect to the Carbajal name. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Felix is survived by his children, Elida (Jerry) Jones of Boise ID, Mary (Michael) Christianson of Sun City FL, Dale Sprague of Belle Fourche; Ben Ralph (Kathleen Larson) Carbajal of Rapid City; step-daughters, Ardith Beveridge of Minneapolis, Jeannin Shuck of Spearfish; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Trinidad and Lois; an infant son; son, Felix Jr.; daughter-in-law, Donna Carbajal; son-in-law, Lou Sprague; and several brothers and sisters.   Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 A.M. – Friday – October 6, 2017 St. Paul Catholic Church Belle Fourche, South Dakota   Celebrant – Monsignor Michael Woster   Casketbearers Anthony Carbajal                                                Ryan Cherveny Brayden Carbajal                                                       Luis Mesa Jon Carbajal                                                     Cassius Ramirez Ben Ralph Carbajal                                                 Kai Ramirez Hunter Cherveny                                                   Jeremy Wolf   Interment Pine Slope Cemetery Belle Fourche, South Dakota
