John Joseph “J.J.” Hunt age 38 of Belle Fourche, died Monday August 24th, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, north of Belle Fourche. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am Friday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, with Father Tim Hoag officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 6:30 PM Thursday at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills. A rosary service will be held 7 PM Thursday evening at the church. Interment will be held in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Sturgis. John Joseph Hunt was born November 10, 1970 in Rapid City. He was the adopted son of James and Gertrude (Richmond) Hunt. J.J. grew up near Reva where he attended grade school. In 1989 he graduated from Harding County High School in Buffalo. During his high school years he enjoyed competing in bareback and saddle bronc events as a member of the Harding County Rodeo Club. He also enjoyed being part of the wrestling and football teams. For 1 ½ years, J.J. attended SDSU in Brookings. He later moved with his family to Belle Fourche where he has lived since. J.J. worked for the Nabors Oil Co. for 5 years, Cyclone Oil Co. for a time, and he recently had been a ranch hand for a nearby rancher. J.J. is survived by his mother, Gertrude “Trudy” Hunt of Belle Fourche; brothers, James Hunt, Donroy Janis of Rapid City; sisters, TroyLynne Rock of Rapid City, Darla Janis of Rapid City; several aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James Hunt in 1996.
