** VIDEO TRIBUTE CAN BE VIEWED BELOW ** Martha A. Scholl, age 93 of Isabel, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Golden Living Center, Prairie Hills in Rapid City. The funeral service will be held 11am Friday, December 9th, 2016 at the Church of God in Isabel. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in Hillview Cemetery, in Isabel. Funeral arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Martha Amanda (Opp) Scholl, 93, of Isabel, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the Prairie Hills Nursing Home in Rapid City. She was born in Eureka, South Dakota, on December 30, 1922, the daughter of Fred and Rose (Himmreich) Opp. In 1928, she moved with her family to a homestead south of Firesteel where they lived 7 years before moving to Isabel. She went to country schools then to Isabel public school where she graduated from 8th grade. When she was 17, the death of her mother left Martha with the responsibility of raising 7 of her younger siblings for about 8 years. On March 2, 1947, she married William Peter Scholl, in Mobridge, SD. They established their home on a ranch along Red Earth Creek, south of Isabel, and raised a family of four: Karen, Billy, Jack and Tim. As a homemaker, loving wife and mother, she cooked and baked for family, friends and hired men, grew flowers and loved to read and embroider. She was always active in church and school activities. After her husband, Bill, passed away in September of 1988, Martha remained on the ranch for several years then purchased a house and moved into Isabel. There she was able to be active in the American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizen Center as well as church. Martha is survived by her daughter, Karen VanDeventer of Isabel; sons, William (Gracie) Scholl of Rapid City, SD, Jack (Jennifer) Scholl of Spearfish, SD, and Tim Scholl (Shawn Grieves) of Amherst, OH; sisters Elsie Myhre of Tampa, FL, Gladys Gay of Bettendorf, IA, Alice Lutz of Coeur d’alene, ID, and Lorraine Griffis of Council Bluffs, IA; four grandchildren, Sascha Wise, Cory VanDeventer, Jennessa and Jacob Scholl; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, and Aidan Wise, and Tage VanDeventer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Alvin, Albert, Herman, and Edward Opp; sisters Hilda Schroeder, Alma Stadel, Leona Nemrava, and Esther Whitney.
