Charles L. Summers

Charles L. Summers age 56 of Bartlett, IL died Friday July 10, 2009 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The funeral service will be held 11am Saturday July 18th, 2009 at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Charles L. Summers was born January 23, 1953 in Baltimore Maryland. He was the son of William and Margaret (Kruesman) Summers. Charles grew up in Baltimore, where he graduated from high school in 1971. In 1972 he moved to Rapid City where he attended the School of Mines and Technology, graduating in 1976. Following his graduation he moved to the Chicago Illinois area where he has worked for Inland Steel and Mapes and Sprowl Steel for over 35 years, as a specialized metallurgist. He was recognized throughout the country for his expertise in his field. Charles enjoyed golfing and watching Nascar races. He will be remember for being a man of integrity. He was a loyal and special friend to many. Charles is survived by his mother, Margaret Summers of Spearfish; sister, Charlene (Marvin) Crawford of Heart Butte MT; niece, Meg Crawford; nephews, Lee and Joe Crawford; and great uncle, George Ketterling. He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Summers.
