** VIDEO TRIBUTE CAN BE VIEWED BELOW ** Floyd J. Westland, age 79 of Belle Fourche, died Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. The funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche. Visitation will take place 5 to 7 pm Friday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will be held in Pine Slope Cemetery. Floyd J. Westland was born October 18, 1936 in Deadwood, South Dakota. He was the son of Floyd Sr. and Clementine (Nelson) Westland. Floyd grew up on the family ranch near Albion, Montana. He attended country school. On September 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Henwood at the old Methodist church in Belle Fourche. To this union was born 4 children: Steven, Michael, Jeff, and Deb. Following their marriage, Floyd and Bonnie ranched west of Belle Fourche. In 1961 they moved into town. Floyd worked at American Colloid and later he delivered freight for Barber Transport, out of Rapid City. Floyd also worked at Hubbard Mill in Belle Fourche, driving truck. He retired in 1991. For the past several years, Floyd has been doing ranch work for Alan Kindsfater. Floyd enjoyed bowling and he really liked the life that ranching offered to him. In the 1970’s and 80’s he enjoyed coaching softball and helping move the ballfields to the Black Hills Roundup Grounds. He was proud of his grandchildren, and he was blessed with 58 years of marriage to Bonnie. He will be greatly missed. Floyd is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Belle Fourche; daughter, Deb (Don) Ward of Belle Fourche; sons, Steven (Rose)of Belle Fourche, Michael (Tammy) of Belle Fourche, Jeff of Belle Fourche; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Flora May Cordova of Bernallo NM, and Nellie (Alvin) Isaacs of Rapid City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter-in-law, Kim Westland.
