** VIDEO TRIBUTE CAN BE VIEWED BELOW ** Larry Ross, age 85 of Belle Fourche, died Monday, August 22, 2016 at his home. A celebration of life service will be held 10 am Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Friday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will be held in Pine Slope Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Belle Fourche Compassion Cupboard. Larry Ross was born August 10, 1931 in Belle Fourche. He was the son of George and Katie (Heinbaugh) Ross. Larry graduated from the Belle Fourche High School in 1950. It is there that he met his high school sweetheart, Donabel Nickelson. Together they enjoyed being homecoming candidates for king and queen, and being selected “Romeo and Juliet” for the high school yearbook. On March 1, 1952 they were united in marriage at the Nickelson ranch, near Aladdin. To this union three children were born: Ron, Bill, and Christi. Together they enjoyed almost 65 years of marriage. For 20 years, Larry worked at the ranch located near Aladdin. He also worked 25 years at American Colloid. For the past several years he was been the caretaker of the 76 Ranch as well. He was a member of the Christian Life Center, the Belle Fourche Lions Club, and the Buckles and Bows Square Dancers. He handed down a legacy of an honest and decent living to his family. He loved God, loved his family, and he was a good man. He loved his friends as well, especially when it came to meeting with his 5am coffee group, and bible study groups. He will be remembered for his hard working hands, his strong Christian values, and never complaining. He will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his wife, Donabel of Belle Fourche; sons, Ron (Joan) of Bend, Oregon, Bill (Julie) of Brookings SD; daughter, Christi (Randy) Crain of Upton WY; 8 grandchildren; and brother, Jim (Dorothy) Ross of Belle Fourche. He was preceded in death by his parents.
