Jo Ann Fall-Smith, age 59 of Spearfish, died Sunday, May 29th, 2016 at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center. A memorial service will be held 2pm Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery, in Belle Fourche. Jo Ann Fall was born December 3, 1956 in Sundance, Wyoming. She was the daughter of Herbert and Gail (Ewing) Fall. At a young age, Joann moved with her family to Belle Fourche where she grew up and attended school. In 1984 she began her career in care giving when she accepted a job at the Belle Fourche Senior Care Center as an assistant activities director. From there she became a care giver two or three years later at Black Hills Special Services and assisted living centers in Belle Fourche. For 16 years or more she was a care giver in Spearfish at Garden Hills Assisted Living Center. She loved her career and she was loved very much by the people she cared for. In September of 2015 Jo Ann was diagnosed with cancer and through all these months she never gave up and always fought hard, never complaining. To know Jo Ann was to love her; she will be missed greatly by her friends and family. Jo Ann is survived by her son, Corey Piekkola of Gillette; granddaughters, Kailey and Breahna; mother, Gail Fall of Spearfish; sister, Judy (Terry) Hurrle of Spearfish; brothers, Jim (Regina) Fall of Newcastle, and Jerry (Debbie) Fall of Belle Fourche. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Fall; and son, Mark Piekkola.
