** VIDEO TRIBUTE CAN BE VIEWED BELOW  ** Skyler James Ashton, age 21 of Belle Fourche, died Friday January 1st, 2016. A memorial service will be held 10am Friday, January 8th, 2016 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. There will be a private family viewing, but no public visitation. Skyler James Ashton was born January 18, 1994 in Belle Fourche. He was the son of Jason and Shawna (Kirksey) Ashton. At the age of 5, Skyler moved with his family to Fernley, Nevada. Later the family moved to New Mexico and from 2000 until 2004 the family lived in Lubbock Texas. Skyler and his family moved back to Fernley, NV and then in 2011 he moved to Belle Fourche where he has lived since. Skyler was a 2012 graduate of Belle Fourche High School. Over the past four years he has worked at Lynn’s Dakotamart, Taco John’s, Pipeline Plastics, and currently at New Generation Feeds. Skyler will be remembered for the strong will that he was born with, and his love of the outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, and jet skiing. His trip to Alaska was one of his favorites, and his dog “Dakota” was the love of his life. Skyler will be missed forever by his family and friends. Skyler is survived by his parents, Jason and Shawna Ashton of Fernley NV; brother, Devon Ashton of Fernley NV; grandparents, Steve and Tina Kirksey of Belle Fourche, and Judy Ashton of Fernley NV; aunts and uncles, Michael Kirksey of Belle Fourche, Brad (Alicia) Kirksey of Belle Fourche, Ray and Jill Litzinger of Plato MO; great grandparents, Melvin and Mary Ella Pierce of Branson MO; and cousins, Jaxon, Hannah, Kimberly, Josh, and Rebecca. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Walter Ashton; great grandmother, Mae Pierce; cousin, “Little Angel” Jadyn Kirksey; and his best friend, Victor Long.
