Monte J. Cass, age 57 of Belle Fourche, died Wednesday November 18, 2015 at his home. Graveside services will be held 12 noon Friday, June 17th at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis. Following there will be lunch and a time of fellowship at the Vet's Club in Sturgis. Arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Monte Joe Cass was born November 23, 1957 in Mitchell, South Dakota. He was the son of Harry and Bonnie (Erlandson) Cass. Monte grew up in Winner, Eureka, and Watertown, where he graduated from high school in 1976. After high school, Monte attended Black Hills State University where he played defensive tackle for the football team. Monte served 20 years in the National Guard. During this time, he served in Iraq during Desert Storm, and also a tour in Grenada. In 1996 he settled in Belle Fourche where he worked at American Colloid for several years. Monte loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed. Monte is survived by his brothers, Earl (Deb) Cass of Watertown, Rick Cass of San Bernardino CA; sisters, Anita (Richard) Cass of Gillette WY, Colleen Cass of Rozet WY; 1 niece, Eden (Patrick) Knoll; 2 nephews, Cory (Rashell), and Robert; and 2 great nieces, Paisley and Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
