From 1981 to 1987 he worked as a kitchen manager and chef for many restaurants, where he developed a natural ability and love for cooking.  His famous jerky recipe was soon developed and became desired by many. Bryon graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.  On July 6, 1990, Bryon was united in marriage to Karen Bolte at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche.  To this union Zach and Lauren were born.  They joined their big brother and sister from Bryon’s previous marriage, Bradley and Lacie. Together Bryon and Karen enjoyed 25 years of marriage. From 1994 to 2006, Bryon was employed by the City of Belle Fourche as the Supervisor of Parks and Cemetery.  During these years, Bryon developed a great reputation for his landscaping and gardening talents. The “Bryon Garden” located in Herrmann Park was named for him.   He also stayed busy as a school  bus driver, soccer coach, Boy Scouts den leader, and an avid hunter.  In 2006, Bryon began working near Wright, Wyoming at the Black Thunder Coal Mine.  It was there on December 24, 2007, where he was in a terrible mining accident that  forever changed his life. Since then, he has lived at multiple care and rehabilitation facilities. Bryon will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laugh, creative sense of humor, and  the patience of Job.  He always looked for the positive in any situation.  Bryon gained new friends wherever he went and always left a lasting impression on people.  He loved his children immensely and was very proud of their many accomplishments.   Bryon was a wonderful man who excelled at everything he did, and lived life to the fullest with a smile that could light up a room.  He will be missed more than words can say by his family and friends.    Bryon passed away at the age of 52 on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at the Close to Home Campbell County Hospice in Gillette, WY.    Grateful and honored to have shared his life include his wife Karen and children, Zach (21) and Lauren (17) of Belle Fourche, Bradley (33) (Sarah) and their son Bryon (11 months) of Vancouver, WA; Lacie (32) (Josh) and their daughters Shelbie (5) and Jemma (4) of Las Vegas, NV;  his mother Bonnie of Belle Fourche; and sister Sandi (Oz) Hespe of Belle Fourche.  Bryon is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
