** VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE BY CLICKING WEBLINK ABOVE (Computers Only) **Virginia “Ginger” Fernen, age 64 of Belle Fourche, died Monday April 6, 2015 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held 10 am Friday April 10th, 2015 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, with Pastor Bob Totino officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Wednesday evening. Inurnment will be held in Custer Cemetery, in Custer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Virginia Diane Hartzell was born November 28, 1950 in Belle Fourche. She was the daughter of Wilbur and Crystal (Enberg) Hartzell. Ginger grew up and attended school in Belle Fourche, and graduated with the Class of ’69. She received a teaching degree from Black Hills State University and taught school at the Belle Fourche High School and the Belle Fourche Christian School. On August 25, 1972 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Fernen in Belle Fourche. To this union two daughters were born: Julie and Nancy. Following their marriage Ginger played an active role in helping manage the family business, “Fernen Electronics”. She was very dedicated to it, as was her husband. After their divorce, Ginger worked for several area businesses until her eye sight began to fail. For the past eight years she has resided at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center. Ginger was a dedicated mother who loved her children very much. She was also very proud of her grandchildren, and together her family will cherish many fond memories and good times spent together. She will be greatly missed. Ginger is survived by her daughters, Julie (Jay) Martin of Belle Fourche; Nancy (Jered) Kindsfater of Belle Fourche; 4 grandchildren, Bailey, Skye, Lexey, and Dyllen Martin all of Belle Fourche; and her sister, Linda Hartzell of Harrison AR. She was preceded in death by her parents.
