July 1, 1919 — January 21, 2015

Lois Leone Bach, age 95, died January 21, 2015, at the Aegis of Ventura Assisted Living Center, Ventura CA, where she has resided for the last nine years. Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years, Earnest Charles Bach, who passed away February 2004, in Ventura, where both of them moved in May of 2000 to be closer to their three sons and families – Ron and Laura Bach, Richard and Kim Bach and James Bach, who has been her abiding caregiver. She was born in Newell, South Dakota on July 1, 1919 to Leora (Livingston) and Harrison Webb and lived her earlier childhood years with several brothers and sisters on the family homestead near Newell, South Dakota. Lois is survived by a sister, Yvonne (Webb) Gray of Milwaukee, Oregon; sister-in-law, Marie Webb of Rapid City, SD; and a brother-in-law, Mickey Karinen of Belle Fourche, SD. In addition to her three sons, of Ventura, Lois is also survived by her daughter, Marlys (Bach) who lives in New York City with her husband, Michael Bromberg; as well as, several grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who will remember her as “Grandma with the twinkle in her sea-blue eyes.” Notably those grandchildren are, Cherise Bromberg (Olsen), Carrie Bromberg, Melissa (Bromberg) Fass, the children of Marlys (Bach) Bromberg and Mandy (Bach) Thay, Niki (Bach) Flitt and Charly (Bach) Hancock, the children of Ron Bach. In Ventura, Richard and Kim Bach’s children are: Ryan, Christine, Jordan, Austen, Alexander and Kitrina. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Glenn, Leroy and Warren, and her sisters, Lurene, Barbara and Zona. Growing up in South Dakota, after graduating from high school, Lois married “Ernie” and they made their home in Belle Fourche, raising their four children and living most of those child-rearing years on Kingsbury Street. She worked at the Butte County Court House briefly and later into her married life, she was employed at J.C. Penney’s for many years. Living at Aegis, Lois had a reputation of always joining in the fun and was known to be a bridge and cribbage shark who never met her match. A memorial service was held February 2, 2015 in Ventura. In addition, a graveside service will be held 10 am April 11th, 2015 at Pine Slope Cemetery, in Belle Fourche where both Lois and Earnest will be interred. Arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
