Jeremiah "JJ" Helton

** VIDEO TRIBUTE CAN BE VIEWED BY CLICKING ON WEB LINK ABOVE (COMPUTERS ONLY) ** Jeremiah “JJ” Helton, age 14 of Belle Fourche, died tragically from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held 10 am Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Jeremiah Joshua Helton was born April 30, 2000 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was the son of Kerry and Brooke (Long) Helton. “JJ” came into this world seven weeks early, weighing just 4 pounds 10 ounces. In 2002 he moved with his family to Rapid City and then in 2004 the family moved to Illinois, Florida, and then Illinois again, and in 2010 they returned to Rapid City. In 2013, Groton SD became home and since March of 2014, “JJ” has lived in Belle Fourche where he was a freshman in high school. “JJ” was a typical teenage boy. He loved food, especially Oreo cookies and donuts. And he was very active. He loved playing football and basketball. Some of his favorite teams were the Chicago Bulls, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Notre Dame Football team. He worked at the Belle Inn and he was a devoted Cadet for the Belle Fourche Fire Department. “JJ” was a great friend to many and he will be missed greatly. Jeremiah is survived by his father Kerry Helton of Jamestown, ND; mother, Brooke Helton of Belle Fourche; paternal grandparents, Gene (Rhonda) Helton of Orlando FL; maternal grandmother, Becky Eckholt of Hot Springs SD; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Madysen; maternal grandfather, Jeffrey Eckholt; maternal great grandfather, Ralph "Chub" Long; maternal great grandmother, Wanda Long; and aunt, Ragena.
