Janet Emmett, age 68 of Belle Fourche, died Thursday March 12, 2015 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish. The funeral service will be held 10am Saturday March 14th, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Interment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. Funeral arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Janet Clark was born October 12, 1946 in Sturgis, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Sterling and Arlene (Anderson) Clark. Janet grew up in Belle Fourche where she graduated from high school in 1964. She worked for a time at the Capitol building in Pierre doing clerical work before meeting her future husband at his brother’s wedding. Two weeks later, Janet was married to Wallace Emmett on January 16, 1966. To this union four daughters were born: Jodi, Denise, Michelle, and Julie. Following their marriage, Janet and Wallace moved to Denver where he worked as a mechanic for many years. In 1979 they returned to Belle Fourche to take care of Janet’s mother. For the past 25 years, Janet has suffered from a rare disease that waged war on her body. It has been a long hard fight and through it all she did it with a survivor mentality, with grace and love. For the past three years she has been a resident at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish. Janet enjoyed working on genealogy and crafts. She will be remembered for her smile, her compassion for others, and her devotion has a mother. She will be greatly missed. Janet is survived by her daughters, Jodi (Charles) Franke of Wheatland WY, Denise (Lee) Wallace of Belle Fourche, Michelle (Jared) Carr of Gillette WY, Julie (Ben) Thompson of Rapid City; 13 grandchildren, Samantha, Rachael, Charlie, Kylander, Spencer, Lexus, Aubri, Nyssa, Garion, Tyler, Emily, Hunter, and Kaitlyn; and 7 great grandchildren, Claire, Ellie, Brooklynn, Natilee, Abrianna, Peyton, and Braiden. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 2 infant sisters, Betty Ann and Elizabeth Clark.
