Mikel D. Brugman age 61 of Las Vegas, NV died Thursday November 13, 2008 surrounded by family in Spearfish, at the home of his sister-in-law. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday November 15th at the home of Roxie and Squeak Haines, near Faith. Inurnment will take place in the Monument Hill Cemetery, near Mud Butte. Memorials are preferred to Northern Hills Hospice. Mikel David Brugman was born April 24, 1947 in Lincoln, Illinois. He was the son of Kenneth and Mariam (Barnett) Brugman. Mikel was raised on the family farm near Morton Illinois. When he was five years old the farmstead was destroyed by fire, and he moved with his family into town. He lived there until he went to college at Bradley University, majoring in engineering. He attended for three years, and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Holland for four years and Thailand for 2 years. He served in the Air Force for a total of ten years. While stationed in Thailand, Mikel met and married his first wife, Louise. Their first child, Amanda was born in Thailand and their second daughter, Nathalie was born in Tucson Arizona while Mikel was finishing up his career. Mikel met and married Mikki Haines in Las Vegas on October 25, 1992. Mikel worked as a Project Superintendent in all areas of housing development. He enjoyed coaching his girls in softball and loved boating and fishing. He also loved his trips to South Dakota and spending time with Mikki’s family and he had a special love for his mother-in-law, Lois Haines McInerney. Mikel is survived by his wife, Mikki of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Amanda (Jim) Ellaboudy of Canyon Country, CA; Nathalie (Robert Quinonus) Brugman of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Shahira and Lucus Ellaboudy, and Diederick Brugman; sisters, Maryana (Charles) Mettler of Quincy IL, Casandra (Lloyd) Painter of Lake Havasu, AZ; brothers-in-law, Mike (Holly) Haines of Faith, Squeak (Roxie) Haines of Faith; sisters-in-law, Jackie (Ed) Logan of Spearfish, Linda Gram of Colorado Springs, CO, Connie (Roger) Hawley of Spearfish; and mother-in-law, Lois Haines McInerney of Spearfish.
