** Video Tribute can be viewed by clicking weblink above (Computers Only) ** Roger O. Krause, age 88 of Belle Fourche, died Tuesday February 24, 2015 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis. The funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday February 28, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held 6 to 8pm Friday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche and one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be held 9:30 am Monday at Black Hills National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard. Roger Oscar Krause was born March 27, 1926 in Meade County, South Dakota. He was the son of John and Maxine (Merrefield) Krause. Roger grew up in Faith where he attended school. During World War II, Roger served his country in the U.S. Navy. On October 1, 1950 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Doak at the United Methodist Church in Faith. To this union were born three children: Daniel, Doug, and Gloria. Following their marriage, Roger and Betty settled in Belle Fourche where Roger worked for Barber Transportation and the Belle Fourche Schools, in maintenance. In 1967 he purchased his first truck, and Krause Septic Tank Service was born. Roger loved owning his own business and he was known for being very loyal and honest with customers in SD, MT, and WY. In 2012 he had to retire due to his health. Roger was as volunteer fireman for the Belle Fourche Fire Department for many years. He was also a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a member of the Moose Club as well. Roger and Betty enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Roger is survived by his wife, Betty of Belle Fourche; sons, Daniel (Pat) of Indio CA, Doug of Carthage MO; daughter, Gloria (David) Key of Belle Fourche; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Beau, Garrett, Michael, Bob; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Doris Anders.
