Eldon L. Olson, age 62 of Belle Fourche, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, followed by a 7 pm Vigil Service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, followed by interment at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery. Eldon Lee Olson was born November 26, 1952 in Canton, South Dakota. He was the son of Henry and Grace (Middendorp) Olson. The Olson family moved to Belle Fourche in 1960. Eldon graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1971. He was married to Deloris Garcia on February 16, 1980 in Belle Fourche. To this union two children were born: Angie and Ryan. Eldon’s prolific work history began at Pancratz Sheet Metal in Gillette, WY. He then worked as a drill hand for a Uranium mine in Alzada, MT and Casper, WY. He worked for American Colloid Company from 1978-2005. Eldon also worked at Powder River Coal Company, Pipeline Plastics, and retired from West Tire & Alignment in December 2014. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, High Plains Anglers, the Belle Fourche Horseshoe Club, and a 4th degree member in the Knights of Columbus. During his free time, Eldon enjoyed (in particular order): fishing, bowling, horseshoes, cooking, gardening, and playing cards. Eldon will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, work ethic, selflessness, and keen intelligence. He was a loving husband, influential father, loyal brother, devoted son, and generous friend. Grateful for having shared his life are: his wife of 34 years, Deloris of Belle Fourche, SD; daughter, Angie (Justin Fuller) of Santa Fe, NM; and son, Ryan (Lori Gross) of North Brunswick, NJ. He is also survived by his mother, Grace Olson of Newcastle, WY; brothers, Mike (Linda) Olson of Gillette, WY, Harlan Olson of Glasgow, MT; sisters, Joyce (Howard) Steen of Gillette, WY, Linda (Brad) Lewis of Pekin, IN, Karla Rieb of Centerville, OH; and several nieces and nephews. His father, Henry, preceded him in death. Memorials have been established at St. Paul’s Catholic Church and Hospice of the Northern Hills.
