Ruth M. Stedillie, age 87 of Belle Fourche, died Tuesday January 6, 2015 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm Friday January 9, 2015 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Graveside services will follow at 2pm at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. Following, a memorial service will take place at 3pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Belle Fourche. Ruth Mae Mahloch was born April 5, 1927 near Arpan, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Ervin and Kate (Adams) Mahloch. Ruth grew up on a farm near Arpan SD where she attended the Stolghton country school. On July 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Joe Stedillie. To this union 4 children were born: Jim, Gerald, Elaine, and JoAnn. Following their marriage, Jo and Ruth lived near Arpan for a time, but later moved to Belle Fourche where they resided for many years. Joe worked road construction jobs while Ruth worked hard at home taking care of the family. Joe died in 1983 and for the past several years, Ruth has lived with her two caring daughters. Ruth loved birds, especially Meadowlarks and Robins. One of her special memories was in 1982 when she was baptized as a Jehovah Witness with her son Gerald. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Elaine and JoAnn Stedillie of Belle Fourche. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Jim and Gerald; and two brothers, Clinton and Allen Mahloch.
