Russell J. Noland, age 73 of Belle Fourche, died Sunday November 23rd, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held 10 am Wednesday November 26th, 2014 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Russell Joe Noland was born September 29, 1941 in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains in Morgan County, Ohio. He was the son of Arthur and Francis (Gooding) Noland. In 1959 Russell graduated from the Glouster High School. For three years he served in the U.S. Air Force and during most of this time he was stationed in Oklahoma. After his service to the country, Russell worked for 3 years at a brass foundry in Cleveland. In 1964 he moved to California where he worked for a catering truck company, building and wiring delivery trucks. He also worked as a sales representative for an electronics store and as a repairman for Bell and Howell Inc.. In 1980 he began work as the lead equipment operator for Southern CA Edison. On March 17, 1984 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Edwards in Carson City, Nevada. Shortly after their marriage, in 1987, Russ and Patty began their own company, Patty’s Collating and Mailing. Together they ran the business for 15 years, retiring in 2002 due to health concerns. In 2011 they moved to Belle Fourche, where they have lived since. Russell was a talented man, always studying and learning new things. He could design and build anything, including a talking robot which he hadn’t quite finished. He was innovative and he loved a good challenge. He was a genius and he was a wonderful husband and father. Russell is survived by his wife, Patricia Noland of Belle Fourche; and son, Patrick Noland of Belle Fourche.
