Josephine A. Kidd, age 71 of Belle Fourche died Sunday November 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Friday November 7th, 2014 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Belle Fourche. A vigil and rosary service will be held at the church Thursday evening at 5 pm. Inurnment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Association or Hospice of the Northern Hills.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
Josephine Ann Silvernagel was born May 4th, 1943 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Stephen and Clara (Renskers) Silvernagel. Josie grew up on a farm near Vale, South Dakota, attending school in Vale and Newell. In 1963 she graduated from high school in Belle Fourche. She was united in marriage to Ray Kidd in Belle Fourche, on March 3, 1962. To this union was born three children: Clara, Leroy, and Thomas. Josie and Ray made their home in Belle Fourche. In 1979 Josie began work as a cook at the Belle Fourche Hospital and nursing home. She later cooked at the Dorsett Nursing Home in Spearfish and for ten years she was a cook at the Spearfish Regional Hospital. She retired in 2011. Josie loved her pet dogs and cats, and she will be remembered for her flower and vegetable gardens. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Ray of Belle Fourche; daughter, Clara (Pete) Kiley of Belle Fourche; sons, Leroy Kidd of New Haven CT, Tom (Liz) Kidd of Bradley IL; 4 grandchildren, Morgan (Rachel) Kiley of Spearfish, Dylon Kiley of Omaha NE, Alexander Kiley of Belle Fourche, Natalia Kidd of Bradley IL; 1 great grandchild, Aspen Kiley; 1 brother, Clarence Silvernagel of Great Bend KS; 2 sisters, Jenny Geisinger of Sturgis, Angeline (Jake) Sinner of Gillette WY; and honorary granddaughter, Amythest Schwender of Belle Fourche; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Joseph Silvernagel, Mary Wyman, Leopodina Wyman, Anton Silvernagel, Leo Silvernagel, William Silvernagel, Alfred Silvernagel, Stephen Silvernagel, and Felix Silvernagel.
