Laura Mae Foglesong, age 96 of Spearfish, died Wednesday September 10th, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at the Weston County Manor in Newcastle, WY. Funeral arrangements are pending with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Laura was born in Bogue, Kansas September 17, 1917 to Rosa Lee and William Van Egmond. She moved to Las Animas, CO as a child and lived there until she met and married Charley Foglesong on May 29, 1941. Charley was working as a lineman for the Western Union and after their marriage she traveled with the line crew as a cook. After several years, Charley was employed with Chicago Northwestern Railroad and moved to Redfield in 1947. Laura was part of the Redfield community till 2007. While in Redfield, she was active in the United Methodist Church participating in Circle and serving as a greeter. She enjoyed the Rebecca's and the Redfield Senior Center benefited from her volunteer spirit. 4-H was dear to her heart and she served as a leader for 20 years. She loved to play bingo, crochet and sew. In 2007 she moved to Spearfish and participated in the community there. One of her favorite activities was visiting Deadwood on Friday nights. She moved to Weston Manor in Newcastle, WY in October of 2013 when she needed more help with daily needs. Her time there was filled with loving care from an amazing staff. Laura is survived by her daughters, Patsy (Bill) Locken of Lead, Charlotte (Cecil) Gray of Auburn, California; son, Douglas (Colleen) Foglesong of San Bruno CA; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren: Galen (Amy) Bancroft and their children, Jillian and Brian, Kevin Bancroft and his son Craig, Kirk Bancroft, Krista (Brian) Weisz and their children, Garrett and Nathan, Nick (Gin) Locken, Daniel and Michael Foglesong. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
