Kenny Corliss

Kenneth D. Corliss age 49 of Belle Fourche died Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held 10:30am Friday, May 9th, 2014 at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche.  There will be no visitation.  Inurnment will take place in the Hulett Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Kenneth DuWane Corliss was born October 28, 1964 in Lebanon, Oregon.  He was the son of David and Judy Morris, the son of Rex Corliss.  At the age of four, Kenny moved to Belle Fourche, where he grew up.  Kenny served in the U.S. Army from 1983 to 1988.  During these years he served as a Corrections Officer for the Military Police.  He served in Leavenworth KS, South Korea, and Germany.  In 1985 he was united in marriage to Lea Anne Hoffman.  To this union a son, Alex was born.  The couple divorced in 1988.  In 1990, Kenny was married to Melvina Hayworth in Deadwood.  The following year in December, Kenneth lost his wife and unborn son in a very tragic automobile accident.  Recovering from that tragic loss was very difficult for Kenny and his family.  Kenny always said Melvina was the love of his life. Kenny worked at American Colloid in Colony for several years.  He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or shooting his guns that he loved to collect.  He was a good welder and he loved animals, especially his dogs Oscar and Buster.  He had a passion for driving his taxi cab in Deadwood.  That was something he really enjoyed.  Kenny will be greatly missed by his family. Kenny is survived by his son, Alex (Cassie) Corliss of Belle Fourche; mother, Judy (Dave) Morris of Belle Fourche; father, Rex Corliss of Benton City OR; brothers, Rex Corliss of Gillette WY, David “Joe” (Erin) Morris of Gillette WY, Shane Corliss of Benton City WA; sisters,  Ramona (Greg) Hunt of Sturgis, Dana Jo (Jamie) Dietz of Sturgis, Dadra (Dan) Avery of Sturgis, Tina (Vince) Dragoo of Benton City WA, Barbie of Benton City WA, Kelly (Wayne Wood) Stephens of  Belle Fourche, Shiela Belden of Gillette WY; sister-in-law, Evelyn Corliss of Sioux Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; wife, Melvina and infant son Devin in 1991, brother, Darwin Corliss; and nephew, Charles Arnold.
