Edward Johnson, age 74 of Belle Fourche, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 10am Friday, January 17th, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place at the Black Hills National Cemetery, in Sturgis. Military Honors will be provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Edward Lawrence Johnson was born November 27, 1939 in Belle Fourche. He was the son of Donald and Velma (Underwood) Johnson. Ed grew up in Belle Fourche, where he also attended school. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961. For two years he was stationed in Germany. For most of his life, Ed was a truck driver. His trucking took him to many places such as Rogers, Arkansas and Tulsa Oklahoma, as well as others. In 2004 he moved to Belle Fourche, where he continued truck driving. He also sold life insurance for a short time. In 2012, he retired. Edward will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his generous heart. He would do anything for anyone, and it was seen several times. Edward is survived by his brothers, Charlie (Cindy) Johnson of Belle Fourche, Howard (Bert) Johnson of Phoenix AZ; nephew, Rick Johnson of Phoenix AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Johnson; and sister, Debbie Johnson.
