Albert F. Mullen, age 78 of Nisland, died Saturday October 27, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife. A memorial service will be held 1pm Monday November 5th, 2012 at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche with Rev. Doug Clark officiating. Inurnment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard. Albert Frank Mullen was born September 3, 1934 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Zazel and Dorothy (Detlor) Mullen. Albert served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1962. He was united in marriage to Janice Miller on March 13, 1965 in Edwardsville, Illinois. In 1964, Al became a mechanic for Caterpillar Inc. in Davenport, Iowa. He worked as a mechanic, a foreman, and as a service manager until he retired in 1996. In 1999, he moved to Bunker Hill, Illinois to care for his elderly aunt. In 2005, Al and Janice moved to Nisland where they enjoyed living since. Al will be remembered for being a very caring man. He enjoyed working with his hands to make a nicer home for his family. He will be missed greatly. Albert is survived by his wife, Janice of Nisland; daughter, Jennifer Mullen of Nisland; brother, Alfred (Mary) Mullen of Lead Hill, Arkansas; half-brother, Bob (Charlotte) Darling of Shawnee Mission KS; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy Lou Darling and Ruth Nilges.
