Lola M. Wright

Lola M. Wright, age 78 of Belle Fourche, died Monday February 6, 2012 at her home. A memorial service will be held 10 am Monday February 13, 2012 at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery, in Belle Fourche. Lola Marie Whities was born February 15, 1933 on her family ranch in Crook County, Wyoming. She was the daughter of John and Cordelia (Huseby) Whities. At the age of 14, Lola moved with her family to Hulett where she attended school. In November of 1951 she met Howard Wright, and on January 26th, 1952 the couple were married in Rapid City. To this union two sons were born: Milton and Gary. Following their marriage Lola and Howard lived in Crook County, near Devils Tower. In 1959 they moved to Rapid City where they lived for 20 years. During these years, Howard worked in construction and transported mobile homes. Together they also worked as caretakers of the Ponderosa Trailer Park in Rapid City, from 1973 to 1979. In 1979 they moved to Belle Fourche, where they have lived since. Lola worked two years as a dispatcher for Steen’s Feed and Grain for two years, and for several years after she dispatched from home for Howard as he drove truck. She also worked as a bartender for several bars in Belle Fourche, including the Office Lounge, Circle, and the Cowboy Back. Lola will be remembered for her hard work and all the care she provided to her family. Howard and Lola helped raise their grandchildren, Cerese, Steven and Derrick. Lola was also a very giving grandmother to Dustin and Christopher and she will be missed greatly. Lola is survived by her husband, Howard of Belle Fourche; 2 sons, Gary of Belle Fourche, Milton (Rhonda) of Rapid City; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth Whities of Belle Fourche
