Terry Collins

** Click link above to view video tribute ** Terrance “Terry” Collins, formerly of Newcastle, died December 1, 2011 at Spearfish Regional Hospital. He was 66. Services will be held at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, SD, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, with Barry Noor officiating. Internment followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, Wyoming. Terry was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota on August 19, 1945, the oldest son of Donald and Ruth (Kinney) Collins. He grew up in Newcastle, Wyoming, experiencing both small town life and country life between his grandparents’ business, the Antler’s Hotel and Café, and his parents’ ranch south of Newcastle. Terry graduated from Newcastle High School in 1964 and attended the University of Wyoming for a very short season until his father’s death called him back to Newcastle to care for the family ranch. He then chose to serve in the Army National Guard from 1965-1971. He soon met the love of his life, Dianne Hitshew, and they married in Sturgis, South Dakota on November 25, 1966. They were married for 20 years and shared four children together; Wendy Bernice, Rachel Lynn, Donald Joseph, and Charity Starr. He resided in Newcastle, ranching and operating heavy equipment, but his kind and generous heart found him most often caring for family and friends who needed help. He later moved to Belle Fourche, South Dakota in 2007, where he enjoyed spending time with his family, admiring classic cars, and being a NASCAR fan. He also welcomed the recent arrival of great-grandson, Treyson Rylan Baker. Terry is survived by his daughters, Wendy Baker of Fort Collins, CO; Charity (Barry) Noor of Belle Fourche, SD; six grandchildren, Caleb, Benjamin, and Abigail Noor; Alyssa, Kylie, and Karsten Baker; and great-grandson, Treyson. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Donald; daughter, Rachel Collins, the love of his life and our mother Dianne Hitshew Collins, and his brother, Gary Collins.
